Painful hay fever! Is there anything that works to lessen the symptoms?

In the previous article, I talked about how allergic diseases are very much related to oxidative stress. In this article, I talk about how to reduce oxidative stress in order to lessen the symptoms of hay fever.

What can we do to lower oxidative stress?

First and foremost is diet.

It is said that when blood sugar levels are high, oxidative stress is high. Therefore, it's a good idea to eat in a way that doesn't raise blood sugar levels and limit sugar.

In fact, among those who have done research on carbohydrate restriction, it has been reported that 60-70% of hay fever sufferers found relief from their symptoms by simply restricting carbohydrates.

Next is exercise. Mild exercise will raise the oxidative stress in your body, but exercise will also give you antioxidant power. As a result, the oxidative stress in the body will go down, so try to exercise as much as possible. It is recommended that you exercise a few times a week, not heavy exercise, but a brisk walk that makes you sweat a little.

The other thing to do is to stop doing things that are said to definitely increase oxidative stress.  One is smoking, and another is drinking a lot of alcohol.
Just by combining these lifestyle habits that lower oxidative stress, hay fever symptoms will become much easier to manage.

Finally, it is also a good idea to take supplements that have evidence that they really lower oxidative stress.

Other Rhinitis and Oxidative Stress

In addition to allergic rhinitis such as hay fever, there are other types of rhinitis called sinusitis. There are two types of rhinitis: acute rhinitis that causes sudden symptoms and chronic rhinitis that lasts for a long time. The most common acute type is caused by infection. For example, catching a cold or the flu can cause inflammation of the mucous membrane of the nasal cavity, which is the air passage in the nose, and bacterial infections can cause a green runny nose and fever.

The most common chronic form of sinusitis is eosinophilic sinusitis. Eosinophilic sinusitis is thought to be an allergic reaction

Recently, more and more people are getting eosinophilic sinusitis. It is an intractable sinusitis that recurs quickly after surgery, but some people find that lowering oxidative stress improves the condition.

Summary

Hay fever, one of the allergic diseases, is now considered as a national disease in Japan. Hay fever can be expected to improve by lowering oxidative stress. In addition to the methods of lowering oxidative stress introduced in this article, we also introduce lifestyle habits that lower oxidative stress, so please refer to this article.
